In the aero dynamic distance activity, teams were to design and build a vehicle that could travel the farthest distance possible. We again had a limited list of materials. We were given a pencil, 2 sheets of paper, 2 rubber bands, 12 inches of masking tape, 12 inches of string, 3 straws, 5 paper clips, 1 plastic grocery bag and 2 tongue depressors. We had 5 minutes to generate ideas on what we wanted the design to be of our vehicle. We then had 12 minutes to build the actual vehicle, test it (make sure it can fly) and then rebuild if necessary. Each team then took 2 turns to attempt to fly their vehicle. Each team also had a recorder for the group and at the end we compared data to see who flew theirs the longest distance. There were three categories in scoring your team's vehicle; creativity, team work, and performance (the longest distance traveled). Our team did much better in this challenge because we researched designs and our team worked together and we all had our different jobs. I think that we managed our time which is very important because we already don't have a lot of time to complete it.
